I had no idea that Harwich Harbour webcams were so detailed. We were not dropping the mainsail prior to motoring up the Orwell; we were hoisting it prior to sailing up the Orwell as thanks to diesel bug we had no engine!

As they are “real time” I am not sure how they can be speeded up? They always look perfectly normal to me, they are not recordings.

I presume so, in which case, how does Minn see himself on camera? I wouldn't have thought that many people look at their computers while lowering sails.

A friend sent me a screenshot. I find it rather unnerving. After all nobody needs face recognition or number plate reading when we are all happily telling everyone all about us on AIS.

There seems to be a slight delay actually as I waited to take a screenshot of my wife leaving our boat and heading for the showers on halfpenny pier, watched her leave the boat and then several seconds later took a screenshot of her leaving.
I know your question. Why? God knows. Little things please little minds I guess.

That’s interesting, it would not be apparent unless you were viewing directly as well as online. Maybe a bit like the difference in timing when viewing the same programme on TV on two sets, one satellite and the other on terrestrial transmission.

Think the delay is because its digital, always seems behind to me.
Try it with an analogue radio and listening on line

It caused quite a stir when Radio 4 (BBC) was available on digital (DAB) because of the potential difference in the Pips Time signal, possibly leading to inaccuracies in celestial position fixing.....

It was bad enough when I was listening to Radio 4 in the sitting-room while my wife tried to do the same on DAB in the kitchen nearby.
