Thank you to the mobo/raggie who has smashed into the nose of my boat on d pontoon at haslar. It was so kind of you to not report it. Wouldnt of minded apart from ive only just paid the repair invoice from the last t*#t who hit it and again didnt bother to report it.
Only good thing is the marina have agreed to move me in with a group of other like sized mobo's, they might offer me a bit of protection.
I had a little incident earlier this year, reported it and will be happily paying for the repairs. Makes me wonder why i bothered!!:(

Yup, happened to me two or three times at Lymington. They kindly moved me to a quiet corner, only three or four boats berthed beyond me...guess what? Yes, somebody hit me again but at least this time they owned up. They own my boat now..honestly it's true!

Hi Si,

Sorry to hear about your mishap - When did it happen etc - Have you spoken to any other berth holders and looked at both the bow and stern off all boats in C - D Channel - As a last resort speak to either Ben or Rachael in the marina office and go out in the marina rib with either John or Alex for a closer look @ all the boats in this channel if you have not got one handy that is - Good luck as it was probably one of the charter yachts they are always hitting boats in this channel. If you find a possible culprit measure the impact damage from above the water line and …

Do they have CCTV? Really bad and I feel for you. My boat was hit in Lymington during the summer but the chap told the marina office straight away and thankfully no damage.

Thanks for your comments,
Ive got a good idea who it was but without a bit of honesty from the other party it wont come to anything.
Still if if keeps my gel repair man busy doing the same job over and over again, at least he's happy.

Hmm Pc correct get very complicated "get right up my nose " as opposed to arsé but then if it was mz Lawson:rolleyes: Then again the holes at the front of the boat, the nose, would be the whors--- , hawse holes

I used to berth on C pontoon at Haslar, the charter yachts are berthed there as well. I was right up near the entrance so wasn't bothered much but I knew a few MOBO's further down the aisle that were dinged. On one occasion a charter yacht came in and managed to prang three 'noses', he came off worse losing a couple of stanchions as he became impailed on a mobo's anchor. Once berthed though the skipper of the yacht came over to apologise to all he'd damaged (he was very experienced apparantly) but i did feel for him as he walked the 'walk of shame' down the pontoon.

This seems to be a common occurrence. And not limited to just one marina location.

Maybe marinas need to have better cctv and be willing to share the info when something like this happens.

They do it in some car parks, and pubs.

A marina that offered full cctv coverage and used it properly as a deterrent, and to solve 'mystery' damage or thefts, would certainly have more chance of getting me to berth there.

Most marinas seem at best just to have cctv over the gates or in the car parks. I can't see why they wouldn't have it all down every pontoon with the newer wifi cameras.

S. Really sorry to hear this. I hope the responsible party has the decency to fess up. Terry makes good points in his post.

Suggest you fit a good CCTV system to your craft, if you go for a 3 camera system with hard drive you can see any craft approaching, and craft contacting yours, and the offending craft as it leaves the scene; then put a bloody big sticker on each side saying this craft if covered by CCTV, surprising how many people own up to a ding when they see them.

Many systems are internet based and you can remotely access them from home or mobile, and you can do a quick check daily.

You won't be able to check the system remotely. To do that you will need fixed internet and the ability to make some settings changes on the router.
