Smallest possible mobo w. min. 8 berths/4 cabins.

Either I explained it in an incomprehensible way or you skipped the relevant paragraph. My ideas would allow the aft cockpit 3 different "modes"
1) As an open air dinette and entertaining area for up to 9-10 people
2) Same as above but now indoor as the cockpit is surrounded by fold-down windows (or similar) on three sides
3) Function as a spacious double cabin at night; again windows on three sides and a non-transparent partition towards the forward part of the saloon.
To a lesser or greater degree all modern flybridge boats offer the indoor/outdoor living space thing because thats part of the reason people buy them, although I've never seen a cockpit that converts into a double berth

Believe it will be tight for 8 adults living onboard for much more than a week-end for both storage and capacity to cook etc.

The maximum living space & cabin space will be had with forsaking the lower helm position and move to the "command bridge" concept used by ItalCraft on the 1970's Espada, replicated by Fairline Phantom 32, Fjord 1001 CB and Coronet 32 & 38 later in the 70's and into mid 80's .... Coronet did their 38 Evstrøm with an aft cabin to boot... which means that you cold use the sunpad on the command bridge as a bed for two people and still have cockpit as a dining/entertainment area.... Not much privacy though...

Not many made with an aft cabin, but here's one ....www.hugohein.eu/my/coronet38/pictures.htm

...Doesn't sound attractive. 8 people occupying the space you have left over after building those 4 cabins sounds like hell to me and I think most of the market will feel the same. I'd love to see a sketch of the idea though because I'd be very happy be proved wrong here

+1

4 cabins under 50ft is possible but it will be a boat crammed with small claustrophobic berths. There are 50-55ft charter boats on the Shannon with 8/10 berths but the same boats in private spec would be 4/6 berths max for comfortable living space. All will be aft cabin or 60ft would be needed for a flybridge layout. It also depends on the climate which will govern much of the social space will be indoors v outdoors under cover?

Sea-commander, interesting boat the Delphia Escape 1380.... but it's a displacement boat, max 115hp to 10t. The double berths also appear to be extremely narrow... something like 100-110cm which may be fine for young love-birds but for everyone else it's a bit tight.

Believe it will be tight for 8 adults living onboard for much more than a week-end for both storage and capacity to cook etc.

Divemaster, I believe you are right, but as I already pointed out it wouldn't be more tight than 4 adults living aboard a 30ft. It depends what one is used to, I suppose.

Coronet did their 38 Elvstrøm with an aft cabin to boot... which means that you cold use the sunpad on the command bridge as a bed for two people and still have cockpit as a dining/entertainment area.... Not much privacy though...

Interesting link, thanks. Unusual layout from the times when there were still room for some experiments. The boat seems to offer many possibilities, although I doubt 10people could be squeezed in around the lower deck table as claimed in the brochure. The main problem is that despite the many opportunities for extra sleeping spaces the boat only have 2 proper cabins.

Have to correct you a little though. Coronet 38 and Coronet-Elvstrøm 38 are not the same thing. The last mentioned is a motorsailer which caused quite a stir when it was introduced due to the modern lines and the bulbous bow. See pic

There's a nicely maintained specimen in the local harbor, Hornbæk, north of Copenhagen where I usually spend 2-3 weeks holiday every summer

Since we are mentioning Coronet and space issues. Here's an idea that hit the waters in 1970....... presumably before anyone ever heard about market analysis. Entered production in 1970, went out of production 1970.... nevertheless 33 produced.
