I would like to replace my Zodiac 2.60m fastroller with a same size or slightly smaller R.I.B to use on my snap davits. New or s/h optional. I have been rec. a Bombard AX300 at £1049. Anyone know of any good deals/contacts? Dave.

Have a look at Valiant - weel made, good value and light for a rigid hulled boat. We are on our second and have been very happy with both.

On snap davits you might want to look at the lightweight ribs with foldable transom, Bombard do one, so do Avon, and probably others. They have the added advantage of being easy to transport to and from the boat if required. They will also plane with a smaller engine, which again may suit you on snap davits if you're having to lift the engine on and off.

Just a word of warning, I bought the Zodiac version of this folding rib a few years ago. Great quality, easy to carry and store, good performance (speed) with a 10hp BUT poor handling in any kind of waves. To make the boat stowable the hull is very flat and this leads to lots of slamming. Ended up selling after about 3 months.

Dave

We have a valiant Rib on the back of our F33, on davits though, it is a 230 or 240 I think, only complaints are that it will not plain with 2 onboard with the 5HP motor and the rubber attachments seem to react with diesel fumes and sunlight and go all sticky and horrid, this is our second valliant and they have both done it.

I have the Zodiac 260C which I think is the one you were talking about, this is a fold up easy to store boat with clear instructions that no more than 3.5hp should be used, why on earth did you put a 10hp on it? Ah! I see, Merseyside in your profile, say no more /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
