small sailing boat insurance

I recently insured Hunter Formula 1 with craftinsure.com for 210 but that includes racing cover.
Without racing it would have been 130.

Aston Scott Ltd are brokers who offer insurance for many small boat owners clubs, they are not always the cheapest but they know the marques. I pay £130 through them to be insured with a Navigators & General Small Boat Policy. I could have gone through GJW Direct who were £20 cheaper with the Drascombe but they didn't know the boat, trailer sailing details, etc etc....

With GJW

No problems with having a trailer sailer.

No problems without survey.

Small reasonable additional premium required when trailed to Brittany.

Just had to make a claim for a damaged rudder. Handled well so far and I am a happy customer.

anyone have recommendations for small trailer sailor insurance companies?

Zurich ~ Navigators and General Small craft policy. £92 for my 19ft Sea Wych

Not insured as a trailer-sailer but kept on a boatyard mooring in Chichester.

I don't have a trailer sailer, but FWIW am happily insured with Haven.

The only people I know who have had to make claims were both with GJW, and were very happy with the whole deals including treatment upon claiming.

Got a 3 yr old shrimper on Scottish swing mooring and in harbour/ ashore in winter. Craft Insure for last 2 yrs. £140 for 12 months. Made a claim in Dec and got great service. Would not hesitate to recommend.

Actually, my main boat is with them.. good idea!

Just got quotes for a 20" Trailer Sailer from:
Bishop Skinner
GJW
Noble
Haven

BS and Haven were close together, Noble double the price with GJW the best by 30%.

I've insured with GJW and Haven before on larger boats and found them both good.

Craft Insure wouldn't offer me 'single-handed at night' cover under any circumstances, others allow with double excess.

And back to Craftinsure.....

"Granny's Yacht" comes off cover on January 13, and I have already received my return premium credit (Jan 10.).

I have just spent my return premium on a first class rail ticket from Newcastle to London for my daughter
returning from holiday in Perth, Oz.

PS I've been to Perth in Scotland.

I would recommend yachting24.com. We moved to this company in April 2013 and their service is exceptional. We have a Hunter Sonata and lost our mast on Sunday 28th July. I lodged the claim via their online claim form on Monday 29th. They appointed a surveyor who inspected the damage on Wednesday 31st July. He submitted his report with our quotes for a new mast and sail repair on Thursday 1st August. Yachting 24 gave us the go ahead on Friday 2nd August. The order was placed with Phil Evans Sailing Services, Windamere who sourced the mast from Proctor in Southampton, built it in Windamere and then transported it to Dublin on Tuesday 6th August. We were back racing on Thursday 8th August. We submitted the final invoices and the money, less €300 excess, from Yachting 24 was in our account on Tuesday 10th August.

I don't think you can do much better than that for service. All transactions were over the web with a final "good luck" mail when everything was complete.
