Hi all, I have a mariner 3.3 for use on a tender, 7 foot, heavey ish, with swimbo and i on board (average weight) it refuses to reach max power, i would say only about half actually, however will reach max power when using solo.....
Is this normal?
thanks in advance...........

Yep, thats natural, it's working too hard with all the weight. (not saying either of you are fat or anything!)

Do you mean that the engine is not giving full power or that you cannot reach the same speed?

One possible cause of a loss of power is that the engine is too deeply immersed in the water. This increases the back pressure in the exhaust. It can also make starting the engine more difficult.

sounds to me too much weight for a little motor.

I have a 3.5m rib/tender with a suzuki 4hp 4 stroke.

with me on my tod, it will plane and shoot along happily .Put another person in and thats your lot it wont plane and will put along all day pushing water at 3-4 knots.

I put a 15hp 2 stroke on it in the end and it flew along on the plane with any number of people. The 15hp was knicked at christmas so im now back to getting vibration white finger with the 4hp.I wont stop looking for that engine.Someone will be missing a transom when I find it.

We use the same engine as an aux on our Quicksilver 640 Weekender.

We have had 6 heavyweights on board and managed over 3mph sow even against a slight tide, with WOT

I suggest there is a problem with the engine !!
