Our shower room basin tap is fitted such that it cannot be opened to its' full power when in the centre position, (equal hot and cold supply), due to the trim on the woodwork behind/above it.

I don't want to mess with the woodwork as I will make a mess of it, so have been looking at taps that aren't as tall.... but the ones that will fit and open fully dont have quite the reach over the basin.

Existing tap is 11cm tall, with a reach of 11cm from the centre of its' fitting to the centre of the outlet spout. I think I have about 9.8cm in height, but the way these things are measured, I may have a bit more.

There are taps that are 10cm tall, (which would fit fine), but the max reach I can find is about 9.3cm and, whilst 1.7cm may not seem much, I think it will make things a bit difficult. I could spend my twenty to thirty quid, go through the faff of fitting, to see how it would work, (and it might be fine), but no sense in reinventing the wheel if someone here has been through the same process.... or is better at googling than me
:)

Here are the three taps that I think would work from a height point of view, (10cm or less), but maybe not from a reach point of view, (they are all around 9.3cm reach and, ideally I would like 11cm reach):

any contributions welcomed, but I wont be moving the basin away from the wall
:)

I think I'm going to take a chance on one of the ones with a 9.3cm reach, and see how it goes.

Bought this:

Arrived, fitted, works fine, but opened a whole can of worms that has been waiting for a decade to bite me on the bum :( :)

1) I had to remove the waste pipe from sink to hull in order to get at the tap tails - discovered that the sink waste was gunked up with loads of goo to stop it leaking - no problem. The new tap came with a new pop up waste, so fitted this and, after it leaked a few times, watched a few youtube videos, discovered how it all works, and used some PTFE tape to seal the gaps - all good.

2) It seems that the flexible pipe attached to the skin fitting was only pushed on, with no jubilee clip or similar securing it. Pushed it back on and it drips slowly in use - until I can remove the sink safely, to get at the join, I'm going to live with this - see below.

3) The main reason for the post: I want to fit a valve between the new tap tails and the flexible supply pipes, (hot and cold). Both the new tap tails and supply pipes have what I'm calling encapsulated nuts, so I need a valve with male screw in ends. The issue is that I have no idea what size of valve I need to fit the nuts.... there seem to be 15mm, 19mm, 22mm, available, and maybe others.

This is the new tap tail: The nut measures 19.33mm internally, and 22.35mm externally. (The bit that screws into the tap itself is 1/2 BSP according to the web site)

I'm guessing these might do the trick at 19mm?

(Maybe not... I think I need 19mm at both ends, and this looks like 15mm x 19mm ?)

As ever, any help welcomed
