It’s come into my head a voyage made in either late thirties or after the ww2.The boat was a 25 foot gaff rigged and the skipper was a Lt Commander, the only visual image I have is of a clinker dingy lashed on the side deck during the crossing…..no more details.A book was written……thanks

It came to me……RDGraeham in the yacht Emanuel.
Let me guess. You're now looking for a 25 footer with such wide side decks that you can fit a whole dinghy on each one? 😀
back in 1978? I came across Emanuel the boat of my inquirer moored off the Folly Inn on the IOW….for sale at 5000 quid,I recall the nice stained glass doors to the drinks cabinate.I should have bought her!

Although not the book the OP was looking for, there is a book entitled Sea-Saint by Ian Nicolson which narrates a voyage in 1954 from Chester, Nova Scotia to Weymouth. Ian, born in 1928, is still alive and a member at Royal Northern and Clyde in Rhu, near Helensburgh.
