Small amount of oil on water surface when KAD43 leg operated

Nice thought and I wish it was true but no service for over a year.
Greg suggested it could be residue from the engine startup…….I’ll hope for that.
It might be a leaking injector putting diesel into the water. Another optimistic thought.
Without looking it up, that might be the outdrive that has the trim oil contained within the outdrive itself. I know a guy that had a similar issue with that set up. May not be applicable to you though.

Hydraulic oil does have a particular acidic pong and spreads quickly on the surface leaving very pretty rainbow around the stern of the boat.
Once identified, never forgotton.
If a bad leak you can actually watch the globules of hydraulic oil leave the stern drive rams/ pipes and float up to the surface.
If the leg goes slowly down over time almost certainly a hydraulic leak.

Interesting!
Nothing very pretty or smelly about my potential leak and clearly very small so may just be from the exhaust as @Greg2 suggested
Further investigation needed in clear water. Out again in June.
