Apologies if this link has been posted before, it's the first time I've seen it.
Note that Trotman states his sewage tanks are taken up to Molesey Lock for a pump out. I bet the lock keeper would disagree with that statement.
Two Slumboats are currently moored just above the broken pump out machine.

Thanks, I hadn't seen it. Depressing how virtually all the comments posted are along the lines of "people need to live somewhere, objecting is arrogant nimby-ism". But the content and presentation possibly triggered that - not the best.

I suspect that few of the "Nothing wrong here - people need somewhere to live" brigade would accept an encampment of land-based Travelers on their street or local playground.
 
I feel sorry for the people upstream opposite the sailing club. The council has their fingers in their ears and the residents get the noise of all night generators and loud drunks. There are at least 5 sunken boats on that bit of river, some have been there for quite some time.
Compare that to Henley. Small cruiser sinks and the EA are out in force the following morning dealing with it. I did ask why they were so quick to act and was told it was to prevent a potential pollution incident.
I get the impression that Henley is the EAs flagship town and everyone else can get stuffed as there isn't enough money to go round.

Don't forget Windsor. Thousands spent on new uniforms for somebody else wedding, despite not being a river event... :nonchalance:

Have you managed to get on the Brocas moorings this year? We couldn't get on and kicked up a lot of mud in a failed attempt, a LeBoat got stuck. The chap who collects the fees on the opposite bank said they've been asking the EA to dredge it, but to no avail. Another spot crossed off the list for us.
New uniforms or dredger hire? It must have been a tough call:rolleyes:

No point Mel or his boss at Greenoak Building who manage RBWM moorings in Windsor asking the EA to dredge the Brocas, it's owned by Eton College and not in the fairway so won't happen. Maybe Eton will notice the drop in income next year and do something but will be obstructed by the biodiversity and fishery folk at the EA. 'The Environment Agency, making a better place for people and wildlife'. Pah!

While filling up with water I popped into the Lock toilets this morning. Avoid. The Slumboats residents are using them as their private bathroom. An overflowing Glastonbury portaloo would be a more hygienic option.
Yesterday at Sunbury Lock, a widebeam liveaboard was hand pumping his toilet tank into buckets for disposal and spilling it everywhere. All to save a tenner:disgust:

Hell, they are actually trying to be fairly ecological though! It's way better than the bucket and chuck-it we all suspected they used :ambivalence:

I can see his business plan now. He's running his slums like an Aussie or Kiwi backpackers hostel. Low rent, subsidised through maintenance or housekeeping duties. Green, sustainable and off grid? I agree with off grid.

Barry Russel is satisfied that they are not polluting the river. Apparently, their toilet facilities are unusual, but not polluting.

If the storage containers are actually used in real life (and not for the purpose of show), then I'd be impressed.... However if they're pumped out into a convenient manhole cover or if the local pumpout machine is used and blocks it (??) because it was not designed to accept 1300l in one pass, then I'd be most "upset"

Maybe that's why Molesey Lock pump out is always broken...
 
I do not believe for one minute that Trotman has ever purchased a pump out card.
I'm sure the resident lockie would remember 1300 litres of sewage, the manhole is right outside his backdoor and vents when the pump out's used.
 
Driving past Hampton Court this morning, Trotman's dumped his shanty town boats downstream of the lock now on the lock waiting area. Nice sight...

Presumably he'll be storing his waste until the lock opens again next year or making alternative arrangements to get it discharged in accordance with the bye-laws???
 
They're his business premises until Feb next year at the earliest.
Don't use the lock toilets, I turned on my heels and walked out.
If he's downstream, his poo and pee barge has no access to the pump out for months. The EA said they were satisfied that although unorthodox, he was disposing of his waste legally. I wonder what they'll say now?
