sophisticated charger and boiled batteries in the same sentence? 
Specs are well published, check them and tune (if possible) the charger accordingly. Maybe previous owner has messed up with that!
if there is an issue, I'd put it letting them dry, T105 drink LOTS of water, in the summer with properly tuned Victron MPPT and 600W solar, I have to top them up once a month and throughout the summer months they'll need over a ltr each (got four on a 24V system).
