If people are frighten or angry enough to be screaming, dosen't that suggest that DAKA must be causing them real alarm. Way up there in his Ivory Fly bridge he may not see the small child in a tender being churned into tomato soup by hs props.
The impact of wash has little to do with the boat causing it & is ALL to do with the perception of the frightened recipient. Whatever happened to tolerance & consideration for others, especially those less well off than oneself?
Once again a wash thread on here exposes the arrogance of the few.

Come on Searush, we're all just having a bit of fun with this....
I'm sure the vast majority of MoBo's and for that matter Rag and Stick would never be as inconsiderate as those youngsters on their FB, but we also know that 'foolishness is tied up with the heart of a boy' mind you I think the bible then goes on to say about the rod of discipline removing it from him, mmmm its been a long time since I read it......!
But if you guys think its tough in the UK, you should come out to Spain! A couple of years ago we were berthed at the end of a pontoon and were rocked to death almost every weekend (which is why we moved to another berth!). I have seen several pontoons full of boats all rocking at different frequencies with the perpetrators motoring-in almost oblivious to the wake left behind! On one occasion, SWMBO's cousin, was asleep on the couch in the saloon and was rocked clean off!
I personally take great care with my wash so I dont mind having the odd joke about it, but I bet that 'young skipper' who was clearly showing-off to his mates, was not that happy with himself after the event. Well I hope so anyway!

come on searush, you cant seriously think I could produce any wash never mind significant wash in astern down a narrow mooring fairway lined with anchors .
As to youngsters in dinghies, thats a red herring
Most people are sensible enough to only let them in the fairway outside lock access or keep them on a line.
I estimate my astern speed to have been 2-4 knots
Does anyone have any idea how fast a flat stern boat can go in astern ?

In astern, a motorboat will naturally create considerably greater wake than when going ahead, due to the relatively flat transom. Though I seriously doubt this would cause enough wake to be of any concern to a yacht, as the transom will also cause a natural reduction in effective motion in astern, such as to make it more effective to reduce speed.

If I was in open water and tried to go fast enough to make a wake the props would cavitate so badly the whole boat would shudder, you cant get a wake from my boat in astern, a ripple perhaps , but no stern wake or bow wave.
