Had an enjoyable day coxing my Novice Four Crew at Twickenham Regatta yesterday.

The down side - being subjected to excessive wash from Merrie Thames every time it passed us during the day, with waves crashing over the side and soaking the crew! We found ourselves, of course, sitting in pools of water!

No other boat wet us - Yarmouth Belle, Richmond Royale and others - passed by with just minimal wash.

To minimise the wash from Merrie Thames, I instinctively found myself steering into the waves to ride through them, a technique which worked well, but still made for an extremely bumpy ride!

And he has been a menace for some years.... we have had Sea Scouts boats swamped by him. It seems to be partly a function of the hull design on Merrie Thames.

Anyone remember the big Maidboat with the same hull design ? what was it called ?

Speaking to Brian , Maidboats bought one of the hulls and he bought the other.

Rich , remember what we used to do in the little speedboats with the Merrie Thames ? ;)
