Slow Cruise Volvo D4

I have a Volvo 260hp D4 in my Benny 9 I am thinking of taking it down the French Canals for a couple of weeks. I have heard from various people that this will not do the engine any good at running at 5 knots for a long period. Your views appreciated please.

Diesel engines don't like idling, but running in-gear at low speed for a couple of weeks won't be a problem.

yep.. no prob's for a couple of week's
problem's start when they a more or less doing this all the time..

I have a D4 260 hp ran on inner Thames River for 1 year. Most experts would say every 3 months try and open her up to full revs. Should not be a problem for you for 2 weeks

No problem, just open her up when crossing the channel, give her full revs for a short period, then just run at high speed for a couple of miles.
