Slipway at Gallions point

May be worth checking out this:

I think the cost including locking is £15, check ahead to see the actual lock times (it says HW +/-5 hours, but when we were there the gates didn't work properly and we could only do HW+/-3).

There is no petrol on site, you need to drive about 15 mins I think to a Tesco.

Other than that, turn right and go through London (but remember its 12 knots all the way) or turn left and go quicker (almost straight away, you are close to the edge of the speed limit zone), but with less interesting scenery.

Not used the slip but left the boat at Galleons for a week during the summer. Locking in and out was absolutely fine and if memory served the slip has quite a shallow angle so should be fairly straightforward to use. Saw several RIBs going in and out and all appeared to be hassle free. The Tesco is very close by as the crow flys but think driving round the dock us necessary as there is no vehicular access that side of the marina. Hope this helps

Yep, don't be fooled by google maps, you do have to go the long way all the way around the marina, you can not cross from the side nearest the station to the office (even though it appears there is a bridge)!

Thanks to everyone for the answers, I have now also managed to talk to the Marina to fill in some extra details:

1. Its £15 each way, so that's £30 for a day trip, this includes parking for the car and trailer at the marina for the day and lock fees.

2. The marina gates are open from 8am to 6pm so this is when the slipway is accessible.

3. It is recommended to launch 2 hours before High Tide and go up on the rising tide and come back down with the ebbing tide, therefore you should look for a day with High Tide around midday/1pm.

4. Call 3 or 4 days in advance to check that there are no events on, particularly if bringing more than one boat.

So it sounds like a London trip for me in 2014, hopefully with a small group of boats.
