Slab reefing tutorial required

It's an old roller-reefing boom - hence no horns. And an impossibly baggy sail as you reef.

One major problem is that it lacks any meat in the y-y axis - and could be majorly bendy using jiffy reefing.

I assume a 30+ year-old boat.

Are you referring to my (silver) setup? Doesn't look like it's got provision for roller reefing. It also has half of the hardware for slab reefing (cleat on boom is testament to that). Am considering a small ratchet strap looped around the boom at this point... What could possibly go wrong?

Correct- I'd looked at VicS photo which had got two hooks bolted to it.
One of the problems of conversion to slab reefing is where the mainsheet attachment is fixed to the boom. If mid-boom, deflection is a risk.
