Hello Everybody, I have started to use skype to talk to my daughter who has now moved to new Zealand and I was blown away by the quality of the connection, no delay whatsoever, it was as if she was next to me!

Soooooooooooooo... what about giving it a try chaps? I also notice there is a group facility on skype... you can down-load it at...

hi guys n gals, we visiting from east coast.
Warning be very carefull with skype via computers. we used it while in italy, although very good someone GOT INTO our computer via skype, please ensure you have very good security system installed. we had to change every thing, skype were not very helpfull even though they confirmed it had happend, however it only came to light when skype had blocked our account, they had still got into us.

Skype uses a peer to peer networking protocol which means yes technically other users are accessing your computer. As a professional nerd I won't have it on my box. I don't like anything that sits there running in the background using resources when I'm not even using it. Just my opinion, I have lots of colleagues who use it without any issues.

i use Skype all the time at work, never an issue. Often use Skype for US conference calls too, for only peanuts compared to normal rates

Don't go there , the security is really dodgy.

We use it at work it is very good. Add a web cam and you have a mini video conferance. Just make sure you block out users that are not on your contact list. But to be honest when I am on the boat I am glad to be away from all the tech stuff give me my the sound of my v8 any day.
