Skyhooks...

Can anyone recommend a supplier of sky hooks? I need to launch a 40ton boat, and these have been recommended as the best way of doing this without a ground survey.

I would prefer stainless ones if possible....

I would suggest go for natural finish or gavanised steel as less than half the cost of stainless so a better return on investment
when you hire out as the rate you will receive for this unique equipment hardly changes whether carbon steel or stainless!

They're easy enough to come by, but the sky spreaders are much harder, and you'll need them to avoid compressing the deck!

You can only use skyhooks in conjunction with tartan paint, and don't forget you'll need a packet on nail-holes for fixing them.

Don't forget the most important thing with a sky hook lift is to get things level (don't be fooled by these new self levellers either, they don't work). You can use a standard centre level but it must be fitted with a square bubble -round ones are no good.

Now then, now then, you know that you must use four 7/8ths Gribble-Threaplys when lifting with skyhooks using square bubble levels- it's Page 1 of the Manual, for Goodness Sake.
Elfin Satiety will go Bersark, and Management will go absolutely Bursar!

Thank you all for useful replies, I've spent all day looking for an extension lead for my cordless drill, I will have to hit eBay to look for a square bubble for my level.

If you can't find a square bubble try reshaping a round one, a two pound glass hammer should do the trick. Just be careful you don't end up with a rectangular one as it won't fit the level.
