When I was in Loch Greshornish recently I discovered a brand new dinghy pontoon, which makes shore access massively easier.
This Loch is somewhat off the usual yacht routes, but is listed in the CCC Pilot as giving “the best shelter in Loch Snizort”, with a very spacious anchorage in mud at ideal depths. However one issue had been that it was very difficult to get ashore except at high water.
The new dinghy pontoon has been established by Skye Marine. We had a very friendly welcome from the owners, who live in the house down by the pontoon.
Apparently there is a toilet and shower (at back of house), and laundry (washing machine and tumble dryer) available by arrangement. Edinbane Inn is a short walk away, but unfortunately the shop listed in my CCC guide has closed (though on main bus route between Portree and Dunvegan, if need supplies).
This is also a working croft, with tours available and spinning of own sheep wool, plus boat trips and Canadian canoe hire available - quite the modern diverse “aquatic croft”! Sharing in case of interest, and as not yet in Welcome Anchorages. Contact at www.Skye-marine.com, on VHF Ch 06 or 01470-582261.

Yes it's a useful facility. The village shop is now in community ownership so should finally be reopening, next year at the earliest though.

Just to note the pontoon is only suitable for tenders, or possibly a very brief touch and go by a bigger boat. It dries out almost completely, and the owner needs the hammerhead berth for his own boat from which he runs his business.

We anchored in there once seeking shelter from 40 knot winds. Great holding but we managed to create our own drama by losing the dinghy…
