I had a lovely sail round Skomer on Saturday, then anchored up the river at Castle Reach for the night before returning to Milford marina on Sunday morning.

I had planned to stop for lunch on the mooring buoys in north haven on Skomer. There were some yellow buoys, but were all marked "No mooring", same for two pink ones too.

Does anyone know what the status is of the mooring buoys?
(a) Removed for the winter
(b) Not mooring buoys at all, but "Don't anchor closer than this" buoys
(c) ???

Cheers,
David.

In March of this year there was a thread about the Skomer visitor moorings. In post #7 I mentioned the Skomer warden's name, Chris Taylor, and his mobile phone number.

If you ring him I'd be interested to hear what he has to say about the mooring buoys over winter. We were last there in late August and spent one night on the easternmost of the 4 buoys.

The weather on Saturday was disppointingly good, for us, as our boat came out of the water on Friday! It's now in its cradle, in the middle Milford yard, for the next 4 months.

Thanks for this warning. Did not know about any theft(s). We were aware that at least one, maybe two inflatables were slashed back in the summer? One belongs to a friend of ours and has now been repaired.

I use to leave my boat on a winter mooring at angle untill 2 years ago with no trouble but there seems to be more break in these days.
