We are part 1 registered and want to change the name and port of registration writing on the stern.

Is there a minimum size for letters or any other restrictions on say what font you can use?

5cm minimum, "of proportionate breadth", black on a light background, white or yellow on dark. Details here.

I note that there's plenty of yachts around with a uk port of registry on the stern which don't adhere to the colour rule. Anyone know of anyone being picked up on that?

(err...no particular reason for asking.....dark-ish-silver-grey is pretty much the same as black...)

If you are SSR registered you can put what you like, eg Birmingham, and any colour.

We are Part 1, when I received the instructions we clearly could not comply. I rang them to ask if a plastic sticker was acceptable, to which the answer was more or less 'do what you like'. Our name and port are blue on white.

Boat name Part 1

Same here. The boat's counter is nowhere near big enough for letter sizes designed for supertankers. Called them and 'do what is best...' Went Helvetica Gold on Blue, sized as sensible for counter area.
