Am downsizing due to old age poverty and lack of crew!!
I am considering a trailer sailor such as the sailfish.
I live near Burnley and my ideal solution would be to store the boat at a sailing club nearby where I could sail when inclined and store but be able to trail away to more interesting sailing grounds. Most of the local clubs seem to be dinghy only and wouldnt take the sailfish even though she seems no bigger than some of the larger dinghys.
Any ideas guys??

It might be worth checking sites which store touring caravans too. I think some of them will consider storing a trailer sailer - at least some do on the south coast.

Rather than storing permanently on a trailer I would think in terms of getting a club mooring. Use the trailer for winter storage and the occasional trip to distant waters. Having to launch and recover every time you want to sail is a real turnoff.

You might want to take a look at Glasson Sailing Club. We have tidal moorings on the Lune estuary and a large boat park and slipway. Trailboat sailors make up quite a large proportion of our membership. We don't permit use of our boat park for mere boat storage however - to keep a boat there you have to join the club and are expected to sail from Glasson and to take part in club events. You can of course tow your boat to other venues as well. There are usually one or two trailer sailers for sale at the club. www.glassonsc.org.uk
