Singlehanded Star Class Atlantic crossing

I met him in Mindelo, Cape Verde just under a month ago.

He was a bit of a celebrity on the pontoon, and regaled many people, my wife and I amongst them, with tales of his trials and tribulations. He told us he was hallucinating and he wasn't sure he was going to make it, after losing all his power and navigation equipment for 6 days.

I'm pleased he's on track, and having seen him and the boat first hand, and just crossed myself, in a 60ft cat, I salute him

I have a couple of pictures I took of the boat in Mindelo, it is tiny, but I can't seem to get them to upload

Dario " landed" on Martinica!
Unfortunatly the boar went lost upon arrival on an unplanned place. He managed to ger onshore, walked 4 km to get to someone and finally managed to make a phone call to his wife to confirm he was ok. His sat phone had gone down with the boat.

That's terribly sad. He told us he was en route to the Bahamas to take part in a Star regatta. I guess he is pleased to be alive.

Sorry for the typo (of course BOAT instead of BOAR!).
Actually it was Santa Lucia.
Dario was sailing this last part in a complete electric blackout, without instruments, so he understood that the boat had shifted to leeward much more that he had planned, probably for the ocean swell, and just the sound of breakers hinted he was almost on land.
Thanks
