Single stop in the Solent

Sweare Deep info

Tut tut David. On your own doorstep one can anchor in Sweare Deep within sight of both the Ship Inn and the Royal Oak, while across the Harbour there's room at Dell Quay to enjoy the Crown & Anchor.

Is there room to Anchor at Sweare Deep ? - is it not full of moorings ? I only draw 0.8 and can in fact dry out but as my home mooring dries I usually want to stay afloat on short weekend.

Do you anchor before the moorings (as approached from seaward) or after (or by the side) Is there somewhere "easy" to dinghy ashore ? Without marching through mud.

And lastly which is the better pub for food - the Ship or the Royal Oak ?

A couple of thoughts, if I may.

There is nothing like Goes on the Solent, so expectations need to be managed.

Not what the OP asked for, but I would have thought that a night at Gunwharf, booked in advance, might be a different, but interesting experience - + 44 2392 836710, or gwq-berth.masters@gunwharf-quays.com

Not strictly the Solent but what about Chichester Harbour - if the predicted Easterlies don't materialise it may be a better course to lay from Cherbourg, and there is "space" for 36 boats on six moorings at Itchenor - http://www.conservancy.co.uk/out/harbour_villages.asp?village=Itchenor
