Hello All
Have just returned from two Month cruise in Aegean.

At the end of last year sailing season I bought a Simrad WP 30 It fited the boat OK and seemed to work very well . This season however the bloody thing gone haywire if you look back ,in very flat water you can see that the boat yaws a hell of a lot , I have done all the things suggusted in manual,Gone around in a circle 1 1/2 times adjusted the seastate , set it up to suit the amount of turns of the wheel, and still the thing will not keep a good course ,and remember this is in flat calm ,In a f6 if you look at the track on the GPS it vears about 30deg each side then farts and gives up .
Any sugestion other than use it as a depth gauge. Cheers bob t

Just a thought, I had a mate that had similar problems,(cant remember the model) and it turned out that the magnets from the cockpit speakers were interfering with performance.

Have not got deck speakers . I even removed the compass from its position . and shut down the GPS / chart ploter /Yeoman /Radio / Fridge /VHF. I think the thing is knackard, after two months light use!!! thank for your help . Cheers bob t

Contact Geoff...

Hi,

I've had a WP30 (also fitted myself) on my Fisher 25 for about a year now. It seems to hold a pretty good course. The only problem I've had has been mechanical - the whole thing has jammed solid with the clutch disengaged; not fun when entering your marina berth!

Anyway, send an email to Geoff Sargent at Simrad. He's the after-sales service manager and has been very helpful to me in the past. It can take him a couple of days to reply, though!

His address is: geoff.sargent@simrad.com

Cheers,

Jerry
