Just plugged in my Simrad TP32 for the first time in a while and all the lights came on, but the ram didn't move. Thinking it might be a bit stuck after a prolonged absence, I twisted and pulled it a little and, to my surprise, it pulled right out of the unit.

Now, I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure that's not meant to happen. Had anyone else experienced a similar thing? Any tips to get it sorted? Alternatively, will Simrad repair stuff out of warranty?

Thanks, James

Thanks to all, but it appears that I've been done up like a kipper. The Tiller Pilot came with the boat and I didn't have a chance to test it before the sale went through. I opened it up today to find a mess of rust, loose parts and seals in the wrong place. I can't believe all the lights and sound worked!

Note to self, always check EVERYTHING before buying a boat and never leave anything to good faith.
