Simrad quote the power consumption of this tillerpilot at 0.5A. I've wired a power supply for it, but haven't any 1A fuses, which would have been my first guess at good protection, so have used 5A instead.
Problem is that when it gets to its limits of travel it's blowing these. (I'm testing it off the boat and swinging it round to get it to travel, as I would to let it extend for use or stowage).
Do I have a problem in that there should be limit switches stopping this occurring, or could 'normal' peak load be more than 5A, and so I should go up to 10A fuses?
Thanks in advance.
ps. Naturally, it's just happened, Simrad tech support are shut for the weekend, and I was banking on using it tomorrow!
