Just working through a snagging list on a 2009 Princess 50 I bought a couple of months ago. The bulkhead socket to connect the Simrad RS87 VHF had dropped through into the void behind the trim. I’ve fished it out but one of the connector pins is snapped off. I was hoping not to have to get behind the instrument panel and replace the whole cable - anyone know if it’s possible to fit a new connector only?

Bump. Sorry H, i dont know this, but others on here might, so I’ve bumped it back up to the top. Have you tried a Simrad dealer or someone like Knights Electrical on the Hamble. I have used Paul Knight a few times, and he is pretty reliable. Works in the Solent area, but based at Deacons.

Thanks for the bump Rafiki. I got hold of someone at Simrad technical support who was very helpful. It seems that my radio is two generations old now and they don’t carry parts although the connector itself is a generic part that would either have been supplied in a fixed/ moulded plug format made by [Connaxial] or an ‘Amphenol’ type that you can take apart. I can’t get to the boat at the moment and can’t remember exactly what the fitting looked like. Amphenol style would be easier, the fallback is to try to get inside the moulded plug, confirm the wiring sequence and then fit a replacement Amphenol connector instead. Always easier to describe a fiddly job than to do it in practice I find ...
