We’ve just taken delivery of a new old boat and the auto helm has decided to cease to function after behaving perfectly for the first 12 days
It is displaying high current in the display and won’t hold a course in auto.
Done lots of Googling on the subject but now need some help please

On the head unit, one of the button rubber shrouds is missing and the display misted up just before we had these issues

Has anyone had these problems and. If so. what should we do?

Common treatment for a malfunctioning autohelm is several days confinement in a warm, dry environment,(airing cupboard?), followed by a waterproof jacket.
Might work!

First thing I would try is to take it home, open it up (if possible) and dry it out in the airing cupboard or somewhere warm. If it then works ok you need to fit a new button shroud or, if unavailable, devise some protective coat for it, eg freezer bag or cling film.

Earlybird beat me to it!

Still looking for a button shroud if anyone knows of one. Just done open display surgery and got it working but the contacts are suffering from oxidation.
