Simrad AT10 connections

The hookup for the AT10 has an NMEA0183 talker and one NMEA0183 listener. The AT10 will be connected to the NMEA2000 connection of a Garmin 750. The AT10 talker will go to a Raymarine ST60+ autopilot via its NMEA0183 connection.

The main question is: Will the listener of the AT10 receive wind NMEA0183 data and pass it to the AT10 talker as well as the NMEA2000 setup.

The 2 NMEA inputs of the Garmin is set to receive data from the AIS receiver and from the nav program on the computer. As a result no spare input on the Garmin.

The AT10 info data sheet says it has 2 way communications, however I have not yet received the AT10 (we are in Borneo and it is on its way from Aust) and would like to ensure it will operate without any other hardware devices.

Hopefully someone who has used the AT10 before might intervene, but browsing the instructions I would reply to your main question with a no. The NMEA port seems to be devised as a unit, i.e. its IN and OUT channels do not appear to be cross-linked. In some way as the AT10 is devised as a mere translator and not as a multiplexer, this might be a necessary condition to avoid the possibility of a disruptive loop.

I din't know the unit you have but NMEA 0830 will not talk to NMEA 2000 as they are quite different protocols.

I have a Simrad AT10. however my setup is slightly different to yours as my GPS, autopilot etc. are on the 0183 side and masthead unit, instruments, depth and speed on the 2000 side. Unfortunately I don't have my wiring diagram with me, but I'm am fairly sure that the AT10 0183 listner and talker are not 'connected' as there is a separate NMEA 0183 multiplexer that does that job.

When the AT10 data sheet says it has 2 way communications, I think it means 2000 to 0183 and 0183 to 2000. It is only a converter not a multiplexer.

Why not ask Simrad? Surely you'll get a quicker, more accurate answer that way?

Further to my previous reply, there is some relevant information installations including the AT10 on page 23 of the Simnet Installation Manual. That is downloadable from: http://cs.simradyachting.com/Index.aspx?PageID=92&CategoryBrowse=Browse%2c7.
You will need to add the .pdf extension to the downloaded file as, for some reason, Simrad don't include it.
