When I am in Nav mode, either to a Waypoint or on a Route, how can I stop the Navigation totally?

We were heading to the Exe SWM Waypoint today, but the swell was unpleasant, so SWMBO requested a return to base. The route remained until I switched off.

If I go to Standby, the route remains, and I cannot find anything in the Manual that tells me how to stop navigating.

Also, if I am navigating and switch to Standby to avoid a pot or another boat, when I switch back to Auto, the Nav takes me at 90º back to the original route rather than just re-aligning to the next waypoint. Simrad don't seem to offer a Resume option.

I would welcome any ideas.

Got an answer from Simrad, which I have validated, and am sharing in case anyone else needs it:

To cancel navigation you will need to be on the chart page on the NSS Evo3 and then simply open the Menu using the button with 3 horizontal lines. You will need to be on the root of this menu so if the top option says 'Back' then select this until you see either 'Restore cursor' or 'Clear cursor' at the top. You will then have an option further down this list for 'Navigation' and if you select this the bottom right of the screen will say 'Cancel'. Select cancel to completely clear the navigation on the plotter.

Blimey! That sounds like a bit of a pfaff to perform what should be a simple action. I have never used Simrad stuff and have always had Raymarine of Garmin, with the former being the easiest to use.

Not as bad as it sounds. I tried it out, and it gave me the menu instantly, touch Navigation and touch Cancel
