Help!

My venerable (20 year old) SL519 windlass has given up the ghost! The mechanical side seems ok; you can wind the electric motor and the driven toothed wheel which turns the chain gypsy. When the button is depressed, all that happens is the click of a solenoid. Any ideas?

Does anyone have a manual for the SL519; I'd be quite happy to reimburse photocopying/postage expenses.

Please do not suggest contacting Simpson Lawrence. I have tried by post, e-mail & telephone, all to no avail.

Many thanks in anticipation.

Hi,
The click of the solenoid could indicate insufficient power to run the motor. Check all of your connections for corrosion/resistance. If it is a bad connection the terminals will get hot. It may also be possible to bypass the solenoid, ie take power direct from the batttery to the terminals to see if the motor is ok.
Good Luck
Eddie
