Simo the Vertue has been on the hard In Olhao in Portugal since November , she has had a complete repaint , new cockpit lockers and a host of other jobs I am going back down next week to complete many tasks including deksolj 12 coats on the mast re step it, load all the food for the trip (tinned) in June , relaunch and put back on her mooring on the river till the beginning of June when we start the trip back to Ipswich via the Azores if you would like to catch the updates on the blog feel free.

We loved the Olhau lagoons. I don't know if you have done this but if you buy a squid lure and line you can catch squid or octopus in the anchorage. Also at low tide in the anchorage you can pick cockles and on the Atlantic side, also opposite the anchorage and at low tide, you can pick clams. If you pick cockles put them in a net bag under the boat for one tide to get the sand out. Trust the launch and sail back goes well.
