Hopfully someone may be able to assist here, I have fitted to my boat a Silva log and depth sounder that does not work, as you may know Silva no longer make these units, I have however managed to obtain a new tranducer and a new Nexus depth box connection, I do not use the log function.

The instrument seems to function in the DEMO mode but will not record any depth reading just the three dashes to show no reading, I suspect that at some time the wiring may have been altered, I have a diagram for the rear of the instrument that shows the correct position of the screen/white /yellow and green wires also the 12 volt supply connection, however I have no diagaram for the correct positions of the wires entering the depth box connection.

At the moment the wires enter the four pin plug in connector in the following order, looking at the top of the plug ie the clip side I have from the left screen/white/yellow/green...... is this right?

Any ideas, suggestions most apreciated.

John.

Hi,

I have a trio of these instruments (log, depth and GPS repeater) mounted on my Sadler 25. Somewhere .......... there is a book with said diagram.

If you PM me I will send back the answer (but not today!!)

Best

The cable from transducer to amplifier is a specific tuned length and should not be cut. IIRC, the amp box between the depth and instrument is specific to the seadata and not used on the nexus. Long time snce I fitted it so may be remembering wrong instrument.

Have you had a look through their online manuals for help? If not, have a look HERE and if you can't find the info you need, try sending them an e-mail.

Worked for me when I had problems with the Nav repeater........

Thanks for all the replies, in particular Rusty Knight and Roly Voua for the link and web site with this info I should be able to resolve the problem, thanks to you all again.
John.

Thanks Peter, you are right there are two plugs one to the instrument one to the transducer, the wiring to the instrument had been tampered with insomuch that the wiring was reversed, don't ask why the boat is new to me, have now corrected the connection and the sounder is working fine.
Thanks for the input,
John.

Hello guys, I have that sea data Silva star here in my boat but the display box is doomed and I need to change it
There is something that i could possible use to replace?
Or should I change everything? I'm new to the nautical world so I really don't understand much about it, I'm doing my research but it's too much information to learn haha
