I've just installed a new Silva S15 DSC radio with Navtex. One problem I have is that the warning beeps for things like a Navtex receipt or a securite alert on DSC are sent to the external speaker at full volume even if you have the volume of the S15 turned right down. So you get the Navtex weather at 5.30 in the morning but you also get woken up! I can't see anything in the settings to alter this? Anyone know?

Surely there must be a means of deselecting the Navtex alarm? You can't do anything about silencing a DSC alarm, its a legal requirement. If the system can't operate the Navtex without the digital VHF side being active then the unit is a disaster, not fit for your purpose and you should tell the supplier to take it back.

I bought the same radio last year had the same problem i wish i had bought the navtex on its own sold the the boat and this time i will!

Agree with you the alarm is a pain,
The Navtex ariel arrived a year late and is faulty and have been told that they dont have any spare so it may be 4 weeks turn around and how the waypoints are used is a mystery to me
