Sorry for a boring post, but my Silva S12 appears to have stopped receiving. I can transmit OK and when someone replies, the green "receiving" LED lights, but no sound comes out?? I have tried turning down the squelch and turning up the volume, but to no avail. Am I doing something obviously wrong?? I need to know before I make a fool of myself by sending it back under warranty.

Can you hear general traffic?

How close is the person transmitting to you?

I have found with handhelds, that occasionally, I can hear general traffic, but not someone in a boat a few metres away. Not sure what causes this - might be 'overload' with too high a signal strength

Other than checking aerial connection, then, 'Houston, we have a problem' seems appropriate.

Its definately faulty...

...thanks Brendan, I've just found that if I squeeze the sides of the radio with my hand, it springs back into life. Must be a duff connection inside.
