The LCD screen on my Silva S10 Fixed VHF/DSC (a basic but adequate model) has suddenly failed - the screen lights up but nothing is displayed. Everything else seems to be working well but without the screen I cant see what I'm doing so the failure renders it unusable. Does the forum think the unit could probably be repaired or will it have to be replaced?

Have a S15 brand new and boxed with new Navtext receiver PM if your interested?

I think it would be worth taking it apart and seeing if re-seating the display on its connections fixes it - you have nothing to lose at this point. Getting it professionally looked at would probably cost more than a new basic radio.

Thanks for the responses. savageseadog - PM sent. prv - I suspected a specialist repair might prove expensive so have already brought the thing home with a view to opening it up. The display connections will be the first thing I check.

Ive got one, the UV appears to affect the screens, mine goes lighter in the sun but comes back after it has been switched off for a while.
Ive replaced now with an AIS radio so anyone want it for spares.
