Silly question on engine instruments

Do all sender units for alarms and instruments (water temperature, oil pressure, etc) have standard dimensions, or do they differ? I need to change two of them, which are the "alarm" type, for the gauge plus alarm type.

Yes they do differ. I bought a new Volvo MD2010 with the instrument panel with guages and had to change both the oil and water sender units as the engine was not fitted with them as standard.
