sillette sonic outdrive claw locks on

Hi, for those of you who are familiar with the reverse locking system of the drives there is a claw that locks onto a bar and then an L bracket goes over the claw to pick it in place. There is a pull lever to release the L bracket but on mine the claw still locks so I can lift the leg (sometimes will with a great deal of force). The claw has a spring that holds in it in place (even without the L bracket). Could it be this spring is too strong? It’s not that strong I can easily move it by hand. It also looks like the photos ive seen. Any ideas? I’ll try and get a pic. Thanks
