I need about 2000ml of Sikaflex 291 which would be pretty pricy in normal tubes. I’ve got a sausage gun but I’m wondering if anyone knows of a reasonably priced supplier? There’s an eBay listing for 600ml sausages but one supplier I contacted (who hasn’t given me a price yet) says that Sikaflex don’t do 600 ml sausages and only do 400ml ones which confused me.
Any suggestions?

I get mine direct from my local branch of Sikaflex.

I would try their head office for their local branch

I also had some out of date sikaflex that set fine.

I notice in the E Bay link the 3 front sausages are shorter then the rest. Could these be 400ml ones offered to you before.

That was one of the things that confused me too. But he assures me he’s sending 600ml sausages. He also assured me they’ve been stored in very good conditions (cool and dry) and he used one last week and it was perfect. I’m crossing my fingers that they will be ok as there’s a big channel around the bilge keels on daughters Pandora that needs re-filling with mastic.

It was a trade supplier who pointed out to me that Sikaflex no longer supply 600ml sausages in 291

I personally prefer 600ml sausages as I have had on in my car for several months in the summer heat of Africa and was perfect when I used it.

I used to us the 29x sikaflex until I started to use lots and went on to 11FC for gluing and found it OK.

I also glued my treadmaster down to my deck using a Den Braven equivalent and non of my deck non slip has come off the treadmaster has not faired well in the subtropical sum

I've always bought my Sikaflex 291 in 600 ml sausages. This crowd apparently still supply it that way

SIKAFLEX 291 white 600 ml

I always keep my adhesive/sealants in the downstairs fridge (much to my Wife's disgust). Just had a look at a sausage which expired 2/21 but I won't hesitate to use it.

I have some 2019 vintage that went off just fine the other day!

It’ll work fine, provided you can get it out of the tube. The problem is it curing before use, not failing to do so after.

I keep one of the 70ml ”toothpaste tubes” of 291 on board for unexpected small repairs. I had to use it the other day, and not surprisingly having sat in a locker for years, it was mostly set hard in the (unopened) tube. By cutting it open at the back I managed to find a pocket of uncured sealant enough for my small job, but I then needed to get a new tube to replenish the “gunks and goos” box in the locker. That will inevitably sit for quite a while before it’s needed, so I was hoping for the longest possible shelf life and am not very impressed to have received one that’s already several months expired. It would work fine for a job I was doing now, but that’s not what I buy the little tubes for.

Pete

Interesting and contradicts what the supplier I spoke to said. €19.85 per 600ml plus tax and import duty and postage.

There's a simple explanation. Sika markets 291i in 600ml sausages in Italy (the source of coopec's link), but only in 400ml sausages in the UK.
