Anyone had any luck with this on the unbelieveably useless RYA website?

I'm trying to set up a sensible link and instructions on their website for a client who is running RYA online courses (Essential Nav and PPR). However, as a web professional of some 16 years standing, RYA member and instructor I am unable to make head or tail of the process

Assuming your client already has his school site set up on RYAInteractive - which he must if he is currently running the online courses - it is quite straightforward to direct potential students to the RYAInteractive site - but slightly different for each course, because for the PPR course students pay the RYA direct whereas Essential Nav Online students pay your client direct.

Thus for Essential Nav Online:
- set up your client's payment portal for students to pay your client
- on receipt of payment auto send the student login details and instructions for RYAInteractive together with their access code.

For PPR just set up a web page on your clients website with instructions on how to log onto and set up an account on RYAInteractive and provide a link to your clients RYAInteractive site. Once set up with an account, the first time they enter the PPR course area they are taken to the RYA Payment portal where they pay the fee. Your client will then be paid by the RYA monthly in arrears. Again, the system here depends slightly on whether or not he is VAT registered. If he IS vat registered he must invoice the RYA monthly. If he is not vat registered the RYA just pays the money direct. But as you say he is already running PPR courses this will already be set up.

As Mike says the procedure for the two courses is quite different. One course is intended as a choice for the masses and the other is enforced study for the few who want to be commercially endorsed so you won't be able to use the same approach for both.

For ENS once they have paid you should be able to bring up the RYA Interactive page where they create a new account in a separate window. The RYA can give you the URL to have their registration automatically filled in with the training centre name.

For the PPR all students need is to download instructions. They don't pay the TC. The RYA provide instructions which you can beef up with screen-shots. If students can't work out how to access the PPR course I think they will struggle to complete it as it requires quite a bit of Window juggling :)
