Hi Folks

I'm currently looking for a new (well secondhand) boat.
I've seen several Sigma 362 and seem to fit the bill. Not really into racing, nor hanging around going nowhere, so the Sigma seems OK.
Looking to continue cruising short or two handed and would like any feedback on how they sail short handed and things to look out for when buying one.

Thanks

PS anyone looking for a Sadler 29 in very good nick!

Nice boats, but single handing ease is more a question of how its set up with things like self tailing winches, single line reefing, lines led aft, furling genoa, a good reliable autohelm, but its an easily managed boat with no real vices.

Having said that if you take your time you can single hand almost anything.

The biggest problem I have with the 362 is the position of the main sheet runner, right at the entrance to the saloon. Handy for racing, but a nasty position for short handed sailing when trying to get extra crew on deck and there is a danger of a gybe.

Winged keel version works nicely to windward - but I have always worried about a winged keel boat drying out.

Hi
had my 362 for 2 seasons now and apart from some racing all my sailing has been singlehanded or with one crew (some capable and some complete beginners) and the boat has been an absolute dream.
With just genoa she goes like a train on all points , just main she can be sailed with precision ,both up sit back and eat the miles, with engine she is fast or when manouevering utterly predictable. Bloody brilliant, only prob they are expensive but then again you are buying into a select pedigree.
pm me for more info or even a sail I'm in falmouth
happies
Keith

Thanks folks, all seems very positive.
Are there any things to watch out for when buying one, typical faults etc?
Thanks for your offer of a sail Keith, would love to take you up on it.

Thanks

Neil

we looked very seriously for one and heard nothing but good reports about how they sail - but- we were wanting a wing keel version and despite searching couldn't find one that was in the condition we wanted (ie good!) - hence chose alternate design-good luck

Have just sold a wing keeled 362 having had her 3 years. Brilliant boats, especially for short handing. Went to Spain, Ireland etc, racing and cruising. pm me a phone number if you want a chat about what to look for.

Morning, I am new to this forum stuff.

We are looking at a Sigma 362 wing keel today. Have been looking at fin keel boats as decent cruising but with round the island and eventually Fastnet on the list too.

I have read good things about the wing option and the shallower draught is really attractive but do they really sail/point as well up wind as the fin keel option ??

also are they as nimble/have as good a turning circle in tight marinas/spaces ?
