Sigma 36 vrs She 36

Re: Sigma 36

And you are not mentioning or considering design hull and keel shape or where the ballast is; ( BTW I have worked on Formula One cars a few years ago, my best colleague aircraft fitters started on Formula One cars before moving on to aviation ) - your Bavaria may well weigh the same as Alex Thompson's Hugo Boss job but I don't think they're all that similar. :)

No. I am specifically not going into that debate for two reasons. Firstly it has been done to death and not worth the time and effort.

Secondly I specifically addressed a particular point in the post I referred to, and that is the poster had his facts wrong about the displacement of his boat and then claimed that the "heavy" construction (which is not actually heavy) underlies its "strength". In my view it does not for again two reasons. First just adding more weight of simple GRP does not necessarily result in a stronger structure and secondly the class of boat (and many others built in the same period in the same way) is not immune from damage particularly around the keel attachment area. This comes with a caveat that such damage is rarely the result of normal sailing loads but more to do with grounding following the way they are used.

Sounds familiar, does it not as similar damage happens to modern boats that are built in a very different way.

Clearly nobody wants to get into a discussion about this specific issue, but the odd one might misread it and think it is a reason for reviving another, largely unrelated topic.

Could not give a stuff about what your mates have been involved in. How on earth is that relevant? You just showed your ignorance about weights of cars and don't seem to like being appraised of the facts - which are quite easy to find. Suggest you check facts before making off the cuff irrelevant remarks then you won't expose your ignorance.

It is also completely irrelevant to compare my boat with Hugo Boss (is this the existing one or the new one?). I only used my boat (and others) as examples to illustrate the point about the weight of materials used in hulls of boats of similar size but different designs. Just facts, not opinions as to which is right or wrong or better or worse.
