Hello all! ok so ive just purchased my 3rd sailing boat.. all my others had furling systems already fitted prior to me buying them. i beleive the boat was previously setup for racing use and im having a little hard time working out what is what in regards to some of the rigging.. the pic below is at the bow.. as you can see it looks to me like the previous owner maybe had planned to fit a furler at some stage or he has removed the drum for the furler? could someone point me in the right direction to what im actually looking at or for in regards to me later on having a furling system installed.. can i not just go out and buy the drum that appears to be missing? or is there alot more to it than that? any help much appreciated

Looks like a tuff luff. No drum, no swivels etc. Just a foil for the headsail luff tape. If you want a furler, you'll need to buy a complete new system.

Would agree with Michael_w comments in that it appears to have a single groove foil for the jib/genoa though more often they have twin grooves so that a second sail can be hoisted before lowering the existing jib ?

We have a Sigma 33 OOD " Whangdoodle " with a FURLEX 200S with a detachable drum for racing (twin groove foil ) but have never detached the drum; so suggest you contact the previous owner for advice and also consider joining the SIGMA 33 Association for lots of helpful advice.
Good luck and enjoy the SIGMA , a great boat !
