Anyone know why there are three wires on my Synchrostart solenoid please?

Presumably it's a dual coil solenoid. The first coil operates at a high current level to provide maximum pull or push. The second coil simply holds the plunger in place after it has completed its stroke. Allows continuous use without overheating.
