Shroud - Chainplates Connections

Between the rigging screws and the shroud plate eyes (all stainless) we have at the moment non stainless (???) but definitely magnetic (if that's a clue ) fittings that I believe may be called eye jaw toggles. There is a fork at one end with a pin through secured by a cotter ring and a plain eye at the other , They are not swaged onto anything , they do not turn , no threads or swivels and are a single casting. The total length from the tip of the eye end to the tip of the fork end is 60mm. The forestay and inner forestay appear to have slightly heavier duty versions than the shrouds. I've found similar items on the web but with the fork and eye at 90 degrees to each other. Looking from the side these have the eye and the hole for the pin in the same plane. The fitting has shoulders below the eye through which the cotter pin retained pin fits which connects the shrouds to the chainplates.

Is it OK for the eye and the pin through the jaws to be in the same plane and not at right angles to one another ?

Can I obtain stainless replacements ?

What is the correct name ?

Is there a better and by that I mean stronger and safer option for connecting the shrouds turnbuckles to the chainplates ?

We have a 30' motor sailer with a very heavy duty mast etc and I'm looking for fittings to match.

The main mast and the mizzen are down at the moment and therefore the obvious time to renew , replace suspect fittings etc.

I know this might sound odd but there didn't appear to be many rigging suppliers on the web that I recognised.

They are called toggles. The pins are usually at 90 degrees and should be to work properly, they are to take up any MINOR misalignments, they are available in stainless and are the correct fitting for your plates to turnbuckles. Most riggers will have them and most good chandlers. This is of course my opinion, I use them on all my connections rigging to plates.
