Got me some friends (husband &wife) joining 'Cameo' for a couple of weeks cruise down the Costa to Gib. My wife is insisting that I rig some sort of upper deck shower as our usual arrangement of a bucket of sea-oggin followed by a splash
of freshers won't go down well with our guests. She also thinks a bit of privicy
would also be OK. (I guess soap/shampoo/foo-foo /dry towels ect will be next on the list) Anyone got any suggestions (besides leaving them on the jetty) for rigging
such an pampering thing??

Caravan shops do a thing called a Solar Shower. Basically its a black plastic bag tank with a shower head and tube. Fill it with water and hang it up in the sun. Beware tho, if its a really sunny day the water will be bloody scorching.

Not a bad solution, and it wont use any of the boats systems to heat it.

OK, to hell with it. Unbolt it and we'll use it as an anchor!

Agree with Barry, I use two of them on board in the med for six crew, about a tenner in Spain. Wonderful things, the clip is a bit fragile, but can be backed up with a bulldog clip, when it breaks, (it will) you can haul it with a spare halyard and use a small shackle to allow it to run up the shrouds etc. to stop it swinging about. Never fill it right up, as it WILL need some cold adding, I've found 20 litres, is plenty even for two landlubbers, does three using the "navy shower". If they are a bit shy, they can shower with there undies on or you can rig it over the cockpit and they can sit down behind strategically placed towells, I don't bother, prefer to frighten the tourists on the pedalos!

Go to garden centre and get yourself a large pump up sprayer. Paint it black and leave it on the deck. Hey presto, hot pressurised showers whenever they want.

I bet the leave the taps running while they brush their teeth. That really annoys me!!!

Thanks for the advice Gents. I like the idea of a garden pressure sprayer
(I think its the 'Weedkiller' bit thats got my fancy -a wee drop of 'Roundup'
in the bottle should cure any unwanted growths and the run off may help
to keep the ships bottom clean !!)
Best Regards-Tom

I was looking around the local Calor Gas centre recently which has lots of camping stuff and spied a "Shower" pressure bottle similar to that described with a proper shower head on the end of the tube. Problem was it was £45 which seemed a bit over the top for what it was. If it was possible to find the shower head used and connect it to a common garden spray pump it would be much cheaper but as yet I haven't been able to source one.

To be honest I think we are overcomplicating matters, the pressure bottle things are hard, so require stowing somewhere and take up valuable space, the plastic solar showers roll up and take up no room. They also dont need pumping and you already have halyards and rigging to haul it up, the "KISS" principle I think rules here, all IMHO. Well, it's the system I use and it works great! The solar showers are also very cheap.
