Have a shower head from Penguin engineering.

There's a rubber part that covers the press switch (full flow to sprinkler mode). It just slots in place and is basically cosmetic.

It has degraded and split.

Penguin do not stock this rubber part as a spare and will only supply a complete new head at c £16 + p&p!

Anybody know where I might buy these rubber covers? Surely it's a consumable part.

The shower head reference is D130 (which may be a specific Penguin ref no).

TIA

I think you are on a hiding to nothing. Maybe you could make your own by cannibalising something. Look for the brand Durex.

Of course I realise that I'll probably have to stump up for a whole unit for the sake of a 20p part - that's boating.

Super Glue would work for a short while I'm sure - but it's a botch.

Just asked on the off-chance - hopefully someone may have had the same problem and know of a source.

I honestly thought, the way they are just a simple push-in fit (obviously designed to be replaced), that they would be readily available as a spare.

JA - don't have any to hand (so to speak) ;)

I've recently replaced the camper shower head with an Aldi garden pistol sprinkler. I swapped the 'gardenia' fitting for a thread to match the shower pipe. Chromed metal, not plastic, variable pattern spray, trigger or hold on, allows the taps to set the temp and halves water use. Was £4. IIRC

We bought a chromed one at a boat show years ago. It has a shower/straight through sliding switch and a mesh filter. Since it doubles as the outlet at the heads sink, a shower-only head would not suffice. There are plenty available if your resources run to £15-20.

Thanks for the other suggestions.

However, being a bit OCD I want both my shower heads to match (fore & aft heads) & the Penguin tap units generally seem good quality (ignoring this rubber cover issue) and the chrome on the metal parts has held up very well over the years.

It's a standard Barka shower head. You won't be able to buy a rubber cover separately. A new shower head will probably only be a tenner or so. The Barka reference is here - http://www.barka.it/en/products-barka/faucets/showers/straight-shower-handles/d-130.html

Thanks very much for that.

As I said, with the exception of the rubber bit the chrome coating is holding up very well so I don't really want to change.

I might send them an email.

(BTW I expect the other shower head will have the same problem in the future so if I can get spare covers it may work out cheaper than buying 2 new heads in the long run)

There is a material called Sugru, it's described as mouldable glue, after 24 hours it turns into rubber, advertised as suitable for repairing dishwashers, it comes in various colours including black. You could roll it thin and stick it to the surface. It's not cheap five small packs cost a tenner, but it is effective.

Please do... http://www.barka.it/en/contatti.html

That is the same one as my Jeanneau, so would be interested in knowing the outcome
