the drain pump fitted at present is obviously too small it is a whale in line, tried fitting a slightly larger one but still will not pump the shower drain. Tried a non return valve also as water returned when pump stopped. It has to pump about 3' & up to the outlet skin fitting.
Anyone got advice/suggestions re what type of pump can i get to do the job, i can't think of any way forward myself.
Many thanks

No expert on this, but mine has got a sump that the shower drains into. When the water reaches a certain level, a float switch operates a small bilge pump all contained within the sump.
Sump has a gasketted lid that contains smells, but can be removed for servicing, so it doesn't matter if sump hasn't been completely emptied- It isn't going to leak!
Works for me. Hope this helps.

Even the smallest whale pump should be adequate.
However shower pumps are the most vulnerable because of hair and soap.
One single hair can wind round a flap / nonreturn valve and render it useless.

Try :-
stripping pump and checking for hair ( even one !)
fitting a fine inline filter and cleaning this regularly.

Hope this helps

if my previous post is the answer then the ultimate solution would be No 1 haircuts all round for all and any who come aboard......

I have a Whale Gulper pump fitted directly into the waste pipe. It's a diaphragm type pump. Despite the adverts I needed to fit a course filter with it. It is quite happy to run dry and will pump air and water. I just switch it on before jumping in and switch it off when I'm finished.

Details of it are at <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.whale.ltd.uk/marpro/gulp220.html>http://www.whale.ltd.uk/marpro/gulp220.html</A>

Dont s'pose theres already a filter in this system? These symptonms sound like mine behaves when the filter is blocked.
