shower drain pump further

many thanks for all the attempts to help
This is a new pump the previous owner of the boat fitted it & set up the shower but never finished it so it has never been used, NO HAIR! the pumps i've tried do not appear to be able to pump the water up to the level of the outlet. I've even taken all the bits home to play but still no luck they will not pump up hill.
I'll watch out for any further advice

I would expect almost any small pump to be able to generate a head of a metre or so, usually enough to get water over the siphon bend. Suggest there is something wrong, either back pressure in the pipework or voltage drop in the wiring. Check that the motor is rotating the right way!

I drain my shower using the smallest (ie cheapest) bilge pump - it has no problem but needs cleaning from time to time, not very often - but I don't have long hair.

If yours is a centrifugal / impellor pump it is possible that the & - wires are back to front.

Also, once or twice I have had a problem which seemed to be due to an air-lock around the impellor so that it was not covered by water. Switching the pump on and off cleared the problem, but it may be necessary to move the whole thing to allow the air to escape.

Finally, the first little pump I had would generate enough water pressure to blow itself off its strainer and, of course that would stop it pumping. I had to jam a screw in the plastic clips to stop that happening.
